Within the U.S there are so many airports are very busy with huge number of air travellers either coming into the U.S or leaving the U.S. This is so because of the vital role the U.S plays in international business, tourism and relationships between other countries of the world.

Airports in the U.S rank among the busiest in the world. More than 5 of the top 10 busiest airports in the world are in the U.S. Today we are going to look at the top 5 airports in the U.S and some facts about each of them.

The Hartsfield Jackson airport occupies 4700 acres of land. In 2012 it hosted over 1 million flights and was ranked as the busiest airport in the whole world. The airport is also the largest employer in the state of Geogia.. It has been topping the list of top airports since 1998.


2. O'Hare International Airport, Chicago, Illinois (ORD).

The O'Hare airport holds the number 2 spot in the U.S and occupies about 7,000 acres of land. It also recorded a highly impressive number of flights in 2012 (just under 1 million flights). O'Hare airport is undergoing a cutting-edge vegetated roof program which involves planting vegetation on some parts of the roof to reduce environmental impact.


3. Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, Texas (DFW).

Los Angeles Airport has gained so much popularity over the years because it is regularly featured in movies and because of that it plays host to so many paparazi celebrities. It is also one of the oldest airports in the U.S which was built in the early 1920's but officially became an international airport in 1928. It hosted over 697,000 flights in 2012, so that makes it the 5th on the list of busiest airports in the U.S.
