  There are thousands of airports spread across different countries around the world but not all of them are         recognized with Global ranking as only those airports that receive the highest traffic in strategically important countries with high relevance to worldwide events and economic activities. 

  Today we are going to take a look at the ranking of the Top 5 airports in the world based on the number of flights they host and the traffic they receive i,e ( number if people taking off from or landing in the airport). So here is a list of the Top 5 airports in the world.

Hartsfield–Jackson Airport has earned the title of one of the most prestigious airports in the world. Probability is that you or someone from your family has passed through Hartsfield–Jackson, as it is the largest connections hub in North America.

Hartsfield–Jackson is the hub airport for Delta Airlines, AirTran Airways and several smaller       airlines. Delta Airlines represents a huge part of Hartsfield–Jackson`s business as it flies nearly 60% of all ATL passengers. 


This airport is truly the definition of a world class airport, as it has held the number one spot as the worlds busiest airport for over a decade now. The people of Atlanta should be very proud of their airport, as it is considered a model for many airports around the world including some of the largest ones like Heathrow and Beijing Capital International Airport.

The future looks bright for Heathrow Airport, as there are plans for even further expansion, by adding a third runway near the north end of the airport, which will significantly increase the amounts of passengers that travel trough Heathrow. Also there are proposed new features including a much needed rail link between Heathrow and Gatwick Airport (the other huge airport near city of London).

Within the U.S there are so many airports are very busy with huge number of air travellers either coming into the U.S or leaving the U.S. This is so because of the vital role the U.S plays in international business, tourism and relationships between other countries of the world.

Airports in the U.S rank among the busiest in the world. More than 5 of the top 10 busiest airports in the world are in the U.S. Today we are going to look at the top 5 airports in the U.S and some facts about each of them.

The Hartsfield Jackson airport occupies 4700 acres of land. In 2012 it hosted over 1 million flights and was ranked as the busiest airport in the whole world. The airport is also the largest employer in the state of Geogia.. It has been topping the list of top airports since 1998.

The O'Hare airport holds the number 2 spot in the U.S and occupies about 7,000 acres of land. It also recorded a highly impressive number of flights in 2012 (just under 1 million flights). O'Hare airport is undergoing a cutting-edge vegetated roof program which involves planting vegetation on some parts of the roof to reduce environmental impact.


3. Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, Texas (DFW).

It is also one of the oldest airports in the U.S which was built in the early 1920's but officially became an international airport in 1928. It hosted over 697,000 flights in 2012, so that makes it the 5th on the list of busiest airports in the U.S.
