  There are thousands of airports spread across different countries around the world but not all of them are         recognized with Global ranking as only those airports that receive the highest traffic in strategically important countries with high relevance to worldwide events and economic activities. 

  Today we are going to take a look at the ranking of the Top 5 airports in the world based on the number of flights they host and the traffic they receive i,e ( number if people taking off from or landing in the airport). So here is a list of the Top 5 airports in the world.



1. Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, Atlanta, Georgia.

Hartsfield–Jackson Airport has earned the title of one of the most prestigious airports in the world. Probability is that you or someone from your family has passed through Hartsfield–Jackson, as it is the largest connections hub in North America.

Hartsfield–Jackson is the hub airport for Delta Airlines, AirTran Airways and several smaller       airlines. Delta Airlines represents a huge part of Hartsfield–Jackson`s business as it flies nearly 60% of all ATL passengers. 


This airport is truly the definition of a world class airport, as it has held the number one spot as the worlds busiest airport for over a decade now. The people of Atlanta should be very proud of their airport, as it is considered a model for many airports around the world including some of the largest ones like Heathrow and Beijing Capital International Airport.

Heathrow ranks among the top 3 busiest airports in the world with an impressive 70,037,417 passengers per year. Heathrow Airport is the hub for one of the worlds largest and most influential airlines: British Airways

Heathrow ranks number one for amounts of international passengers that pass through per year. The future looks bright for Heathrow Airport, as there are plans for even further expansion, by adding a third runway near the north end of the airport, which will significantly increase the amounts of passengers that travel trough Heathrow. Also there are proposed new features including a much needed rail link between Heathrow and Gatwick Airport (the other huge airport near city of London).

O'Hare International Airport has been a very important strategic partner for several of the biggest airlines in the USA. O'Hare is the home of the second to largest United Airlines hub, as nearly 50% of all O'Hare International passengers travel with United. O'Hare has also partnered up with American Airlines, as currently O'Hare International is the second largest hub for American Airlines and it plays a huge role in AA's Midwest business. In 2012 nearly 66,633,503 passengers passed through O'Hare International making it the fifth busiest airport in the world. O'Hare International has been always considered one of the best airports in the USA, as it has won numerous awards for excellence from US travelers.

With such great reputation and implacable service, O'Hare International is one of the most recognized names in the airline business, as it continues to grow and build upon the already great image it has in the world of traveling .


5. Tokyo International Airport, Haneda Airport.

 In 2012 there were 66,795,178 people that passed through Haneda Airport, as it continuously expands and every year it sees growth in passenger traffic. The Tokyo International Airport used to handle mostly domestic airline traffic, however recently the Japanese transportation authority has opened an international terminal, has increased passenger numbers tremendous. 

As it stands Haneda Airport is able to handle more than 90,000,000 passengers per year, however the airport is still looking to acquire contracts with more international airline companies in order to fulfill Haneda`s potential. 


Haneda Airport is the hub for Japans two biggest airlines: Japan Airlines and Nippon Airways, as well as various low cost airlines. Tokyo International Airport is a top notch world class airport as it is widely recognized as one of the most punctual airports around the world.
